Therapy of Expression II
The Therapy of Expression Tour kicked of in Baltimore back in May. The Tour focuses on expression as a form of healing. It usually features four Poets who bring something different and it ranges from emerging to touring poets. The Tour has been hosted at the RL Hotel Baltimore and Johnny Pistolas, Washington, D.C.
The Tour has featured @_gradalove, Tammarrah Addison, Laura Di Franco, Liz Dunlap, The Singer “Nique” and is hosted by @himynameiscarllistus. It has a simple format where open mic participants get five minutes to perform whatever pieces they’d like or two pieces they’d like to share with the audience. Our features grace the stage for ten minutes at a time throughout the night.
@_gradlove has featured on the tour twice and is a returning veteran. She performs her piece "Open Mic Therapy". Gradalove is also the editor-in-cheif for sugarzine magazine, an online publication for young adults. You can follow her below.
@HimynameisCarllistus (below) also returned as the host and delivered a high energy event and amazed participants once again with his poetry and stage presence. "She was dipped in coco," he said she'll be. Right alongside is his T-shirt company Chocolate City Tee's. Carl is a school Psychologist where he works on healing kids when not trying to heal adults.
Liz Dunlap (no photo available) graced the Tour during our Baltimore show and shared line after line of vivid truth. Liz edits for a literary magazine based in Baltimore,.
Nique (right) who featured in May and participated on the open mic in August blew the roof off the building again. If you go to her instagram @datsnoopynique you'll find fitness videos where @himynameiscarlistus claims he lost 80 lbs. I'm serious. I saw the photos. Check her out.
Our latest show also featured Laura Di Franco (Below, Right) who headlined the event with a writing exercise where she called participants to the mic to read a short poem written in house. Laura hosts a podcast twice a month, has four collections of poetry titled the warrior journals and her latest title "Brave Healing: A Guide For your Journey". The link for her book link is available below and you can learn more about Laura's efforts by following her.
We'd like to thank our vendors Grape Seed Passion, Chocolate City Tee's, Brave Healer Productions, Love, Pain & Poetry Publishing and our independent Paparazzi vendor for providing goods such as T-Shirts, wine accessories, books and jewelry.
Get off your couches and catch one of these open mics somewhere near you and feel the Therapy in Expression. Its powerful energy will send you home railing for the next one.
Until then, catch the Therapy at Flor De Luna Cafe with Charles as your host every third Saturday of the month.
