Whitney B Open Mic Featuring Lotus

  • The Pitch Tavern 4015 Georgia Avenue Northwest Washington, DC, 20011 United States (map)

Memorial day weekend join Whitney B and Lotus for an engaging night of spoken word performances by DMV poets and artists.  The event has been running for over a year throughout the D.C. Area at various locations. It features artist of all genres and looks to expand to comedy.  Whitney B describes it as a place to embrace positive vibes and connections while getting exposure.

This event will feature Lotus:

A DC transplant originally from NYC, Lotus is a brand new artist to watch in the DMV.  She is a triple threat as a singer, songwriter, and poetess, and is currently working on her first EP, “Trust The Process”.

Lotus was born and raised in the Bronx, NY and began writing poetry at the age of 12.  Her first poem “The Ugly Duckling” caught her teacher’s attention and he encouraged her to continue writing.  She began writing and submitting her poems into teen writing contests and had her early work published and recognized by the New York Public Library.  During her high school years was when she began to develop a particular love for singing and moved into writing music as well as poetry.  She attended college at GWU and in 2010 she wrote her first full song “Girl Within”.  Since then she’s written about 25 songs and 30 poems, some of which she has performed around the DMV over the last year.  She has also been a part of other artists’ projects as well, namely The Conscious Route’s “Changing The Narrative” poetic visual.  Look out for the “Trust The Process” EP dropping Summer 2018!
